Zurich / Schaffhausen, 4 December 2017

Procivis and the Canton of Schaffhausen have presented the pilot version of the Schaffhausen eID+ to the canton’s citizens today. The electronic identity solution is based on Procivis technology and can be downloaded by citizens of the Canton of Schaffhausen onto their iOS or Android mobile phones via the respective app stores. The Schaffhausen eID+ provides secure and convenient access to electronic services offered by the canton.

Procivis and the Canton of Schaffhausen have presented their jointly developed eID+ application for mobile phones at today’s „eGovernment Day Schaffhausen 2017“ . The presentation marks the achievement of a first important project milestone. The pilot version shown today can be used to log on to the Canton of Schaffhausen citizen portal in order to use the government services offered on the platform, such as residents’ registration office or tax services.

The pilot phase for the Schaffhausen eID+ is planned to last until spring 2018. Within this time frame, the solution will be extended with additional services, such as a cantonally accepted digital signature. As a further step, the integration of an identity check for the Casino of Schaffhausen will be evaluated. The ability to securely store digital documents directly on the mobile phone in order to have them available at any time is an additional feature planned for future versions.

During the pilot phase, the ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences will perform a study to evaluate the user friendliness of the new digital offering in order to further tailor it according to citizens’ needs. Following a successful pilot phase, the Schaffhausen eID+ will be launched officially in Spring 2018.

The current version of the Schaffhausen eID+ is based on Procivis’s eID+ technology, which the company has developed together with Solothurn-based software engineering company Queo Swiss. The system can be easily adapted to reflect current developments in the field of electronic identity and will be able to seamlessly integrate future national identity solutions, such as the planned SwissID. Procivis is already maintaining a dialog with different identity solution providers for this purpose.

Procivis founder and CEO Daniel Gasteiger said: „With eID+, the Canton of Schaffhausen has built the foundation for an integrated e-government and, thanks to the open architecture of the solution, is well equipped to allow its citizens to benefit from the digital future.”

President of the governing council and chair of the eGovernment core team Rosmarie Widmer Gysel said: „The strategic goal of the governing council in the field of e-government is to be among the leaders on a cantonal and municipal level in order to secure location and competitive advantages. With the Schaffhausen eID+, we’re headed in exactly this direction.” Procivis AG, Bahnhofstrasse 3, CH-8001 Zurich | www.procivis.ch 2/2
